Gov. Umahi Dumps Founding Fathers!
*Says he will work with them as
individuals, not group
*Berates them on justice, equity, fairness,
*Accuses
them of keeping quiet in the face of evil
*Insists peace overture by Elechi
after the election was a ploy
Disappointment, depression, dejection were boldly written on the once smiling faces of members of Ebonyi State founding fathers last Tuesday July 7th, 2015 when the Governor, Chief Dave Umahi without mincing words but humbly told the founding fathers who came as a forum that his administration will not work with them as a forum but as individuals.
The founding fathers delegation led by the leader of the forum, Chief Francis Orji may not have met the expected, as the leader of the delegation. In his remarks told the governor that they had come to formerly congratulate him on his victory and to pledge their support to the development of Ebonyi State, but his beautiful introduction to their visit seems to be whittled down when Governor Umahi expressed how discourage he. was in the roles some of them played during the last struggle that brought him in as the executive Governor of Ebonyi State.
He stated “We thank you for the roles you played as founding fathers, but we must say sir, as your children we were very discouraged by the roles you played during the last election, during the last struggle, during the quarrels that almost engulfed Ebonyi State and that struggle, quarrel was beyond Dave Umahi and some of us behaved as if they were God.
“Severally, I contacted some of you and most of the time I was in contact with the secretary and I say please, say I said, am complaining officially to founding fathers that things were going wrong and some of you when it pleased you, you were talking about equity, fairness and justice, some of you have contested elections on the platform of equity and fairness but when it came to be counted, most of you sir, did not stand on that fairness, equity and justice and I believed God is not happy about that because a father is such that speaks out no matter the consequence, at certain stage in our lives, we are no longer afraid of death”, Umahi noted.
