Ebonyi House Members Seek Level-playing Field In Governorship Contest

The Ebonyi State caucus in the‎ House of Representatives in Nigeria has called on the state governor, Mr Martins Elechi, to provide a level-playing field for all governorship aspirants in the state under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing reporters in Abuja on Saturday, the leader of the caucus, Honourable Linus Okorie, emphasised that all organs of the state PDP must work together to ensure equity and fairness in the state primaries.


The state governor had adopted the immediate past Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, as the sole candidate of the PDP for the state governorship election.

But the decision did not go down well with the lawmakers who are seeking an open contest for all aspirants.

Professor Chukwu had resigned as the Minister of Health last month to seek the governorship position of Ebonyi State after making a mark in the containment of the Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria.
