Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi, has issued a two weeks’ ultimatum to the Commissioner in charge of the state Ministry of Water Resource, Mr. Francis Orji, as well as all workers in the ministry to either provide water to the state capital or lose their jobs.

Governor Umahi handed down the threat when he summoned the commissioner and the top officials of the ministry on Thursday.

Umahi, who was visibly angry said when he assumed office as the governor the issue of providing water to the people was one of the upper most things in his mind and the sector had received serious attention before he formed cabinet.

But wondered why after forming the cabinet and appointed someone to man the ministry, the issue of water scarcity still persisted in the state.

“When I assumed office as governor the issue of water was very much uppermost in my mind. That was why it is one of the very first thing I started giving serious attention to before I formed my cabinet.

“And I think the work I started in the area of water would be sustained. I made all kind of efforts including his Excellency, the deputy governor, to see how we can give water to our people but the efforts is not yielding any result” the governor added.

Governor Umahi said other projects such as roads and light are moving on very well except water project, stressing that no one will frustrate his administration.
