We welcome merger in gov election, says APGA candidate
THE governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Ebonyi State, Senator Anthony Agbo, yesterday, stated that the party was ready to welcome any merger with opposition parties in the April 11 governorship election in the state.
In a chat with newsmen at his home-town in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state, the APGA governorship candidate, who alleged that the March 28 National Assembly elections were marred by massive electoral irregularities, described the election as a great crime against humanity and will of the people.
He further alleged that the party was aware of plot by a political party to rig the governorship and House Assembly polls.
According to Agbo, APGA remains the instrument of hope for Ebonyi people as “it is the only political party in the governorship race that has a rich and well articulated vision and programmes for the state.
“All the political parties in the race for the April 11 elections have approached APGA for talks on possible cooperation. And this is exciting to us because it shows that APGA is the party to beat here.
“We are already in deep talks with a particular political party that is desiring to join us in this regard. But our position in such matter is that we welcome any political party that will want to merge with APGA in support of APGA governorship candidate, Senator Anthony Agbo.”
The APGA governorship candidate added that the party was getting ready to challenge the outcome of the last National Assembly elections in the state.
